Sid Meier’s Civilization IV is the fourth installment of the Civilization series. It is a 4X turn-based strategy game directed by Sid Meier and developed by Firaxis Games. The 4X empire-building model for turn-based strategy gameplay where your job is to construct a civilization from limited resources. You’ll begin in the as a settler in the city in 4000 B.C. You must complete the five objectives to conquer the world’s land and population.

Civilization IV follows the standard 4x model of turn-based strategy games wherein players control an empire. The goal is to explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate a region by attempting to lead a large population from its base using only tools that you’re provided with. Eventually, you’ll be able to turn the small village into a successful empire through warfare and colonization, including creating a space ship to send the Alpha Centauri.
Scores are given to each civilization throughout the game. It is based on the actions of each civilization and their ability to grow during time-based tasks or modes. The game supports both single-player and multiplayer mode where you compete with or against real Civilization IV players or computer-controlled characters in casual game mode or hot-seat mode. Points will be collected once the timer runs out.
You will have a total of 18 different civilizations to choose from, each one having its own pros and cons. Their leader will let you know the technology available in the village or city, and the units that are exclusively available in their area. Once the game starts, it will select a random location where you will start your new civilization. There will be times where you will need to engage in warfare to do this.

Civilization IV is similar to other turn-based games wherein you can customize the look and experience by going at your own pace. It is up to you where and how you will create your empire. The challenge is to manage your resources so that you can maintain the areas that you own as well as colonize others. Overall, it is a casual game that gamers of all user-levels can play.
